Signia

By Bayle Emlein

You may think you don’t need hearing aids and never will,
but read my lips: you probably know someone who does.

Signia belongs to Sivantos Group, the parent company of
a number of popular hearing aid brands (Siemens, Audio
Service, Rexton, and A&M–names known beyond the medical
arena). Signia featured the Pure® Charge and Go Nx at the
spring Digital Experience spectacular. Signia belongs to the
same group of companies as Siemens and several other
hearing aid developers. The Pure® Charge and Go Nx of
course features the best in sound enhancement. It also
features built-in wireless recharging. No more struggling to
replace batteries, and remembering to buy a stash and keep
them handy on the go all day.

You might have noticed that hearing aids have grown more
compact and discreet over the years. Or maybe half of what
you thought were just earbuds are in fact hearing aids. The
illusion can be enhanced by the ability of users to control
Signia aids with a smartphone app. Users who choose to use
a dedicated device to manage their hearing aids have the
choice of the miniPocket controller–smaller than the keyfob
for electronic entry into current cars. As lifestyle choices,
such as cranking up the volume because you can and running
engines as noisily as possible, increase the rate of hearing
loss to younger listeners, add looking sharp while tuning in
to everyday life to hearing aid criteria.

Perks available to wearers of Signia Nx or Pure® include
personalized access to television sound via the StreamLine
TV transmitter. Wearers can even adjust the TV volume
individually via the myControl App.

Another add-on gizmo, the new StreamLine Mic, provides
full hands-free audio streaming of phone calls and music
with any Bluetooth smartphone. It also works as a remote
microphone. Users report plonking it down on a podium or
a pulpit, sitting comfortably anywhere in the audience, and

having the best sound experience in the house.
