EnerPlex Kickr Review

Bt George Harding

When you need to charge your mobile device, it’s best to have a charger that is ready. If it’s not, it’s no good!
The EnerPlex Kikr will be ready for you when you need it, because it can be charged by the sun. You’ll always have charge ready  to use.
The Kickr is a four-panel arrangement, with four solar panels and a cover. It all folds up into a compact package, not small enough for a pocket or purse, but pretty small.
Charging the battery is simply a matter of opening the Kickr so that the four panels are exposed to the sun for a while. Although sunlight is favored for this purpose, indoor light may also be used, but with a longer time to bring the Kickr to full capacity.
One significant advantage of the Kickr is that it is very light, only 12 ounces. The reason for this is that the solar cell technology used in the product is different. Traditional solar cells are rigid and fairly heavy. The technology used in Kickr is Copper Indium Gallium Selenide or CIGS. It is more efficient than the traditional cells.
I received a test unit to review. I set it out on the window sill for a few days to try it out. The unit comes with a short cable with connectors for iPhone-type devices (except 5), mini-USB and micro-USB, allowing connection and charging for most any mobile device available today, even iPads.
