Kube Review

By George Harding

You would never know from the name or from the appearance that this is an MP3 player! It is a very small cube-shaped block of white plastic. It has several controls, the usual ones for an MP3 player.

The size of the cube is slightly less than one inch per side. The name is on one of the sides. Side 2 has a socket for earphones and a slot for a micro-SD card. Side 3 has a Pause button and side 4 has two sliders.

Side 5 has two controls, one a rocker switch for forward/reverse and skip, the other for volume increase. Side 6 has two similar controls, one a rocker switch for next folder and skip folder, the other for volume decrease.

The two slider switches have different functions. One is Off/On/Lock. The other is All/One/Shuffle.
With the small size of the cube, it will take some practice to be able to use each switch of button correctly! The cube size makes the device unlikely to be carried in a pocket.

To load the player with songs, you first insert a micro-SD card (not supplied) into its slot. Then connect the cable (supplied) to the cube with the 3.5 mm plug and the other end to a PC or laptop. The Kube will appear as a new drive and songs can now be transferred to it.

The price is quite reasonable. It includes the player, the USB cable and a set of earbuds. While no micro-SD card is included, you can use up to 32 GB. The player battery is good for up to 6 hours.
