We
recently heard that Walmart and Staples will be selling Chromebooks
very soon, with other major retailers to join their ranks in coming
months. This could be an important step in the greater adapoption of
Chromebooks by the buying public and we applaud the additional
marketing. Chrombooks have always been favorites if ours and we hope
everyone who is looking for a new laptop will consider them.
However,
there is one major drawback to the whole Chromebook philosophy: they
are connected devices and rely on the internet to function. I am
currently writing this on a road trip using a Tablet that has a Verizon
Wireless connection built into it using Google Docs. I am being forced
to use the tablet because the Netbook that I would normally use to
access Google Drive can't get inline. The resort I'm at is being
apologetic but that is little consolation. Fortunately, I planned ahead.
The moral of the story seems to be, Chromebooks are great IF you have a constant internet connection!!
