Alfred E. Newman

This week the CEO of Research in Motion, the makers of BlackBerry, made an interesting statement. He said: “There's nothing wrong with the company as it exists right now”. My first thought was of Alfred E. Newman of MAD Magazine and his famous quote: “What, me worry?”.

If the CEO of RIM doesn’t see what is obvious to the most casual observer then the company is in very big trouble!! Mr. Heins, the value of your company has plummeted from $147 a share to way under $10 a share (and dropping). Your hardware and software are generations behind Android and iPhone and your replacement products are still a year away.

At least I can agree with one thing he said: "Yes, it is very, very challenged at the moment — specifically in the U.S. market. The way I would describe it: we're in the middle of a transition," he said. "I'm positive we will emerge successfully from that transition."

Good luck. You’ll need it.
