C. Crane Gozo Radio

By George Harding

A real radio is hard to find these days. This one is either portable, by use of batteries, or tethered to an outlet.

It receives AM and FM, uses an analog dial for tuning and has a tone control.

The radio is quite small, but has good tone, nevertheless. In fact, the company describes it as “the first radio specifically developed for high fidelity audio in a small package.”

The company states that the excellent full range audio is accomplished by an additional passive radiator speaker.

The handle is extensible and rotatable to serve as a stand. It is fastened to the sides of the radio by two large screws which can be manipulated with your fingers.

It has an extendible antenna the folds neatly under the handle. It can be positioned vertically for FM or horizontally (and rotated) for AM.

There is an input jack for media devices. You can use it to listen to your MP3 or cell phone music files. The package includes a wire with plugs for such devices on both ends.

The C. Crane Company has a full range of radios (AM-FM, Ham, Weather, Short Wave, Clock and more), headphones, antennas, light bulbs, flashlights and lanterns.
