Tablet Computer Sales

Once again the prognosticators were way too pessimistic about Tablet computer sales. In Q2 of 2012 Tablet ownership shot way up over Q1. In Q2 almost 30% of online consumers (whatever they are!!) had tablets.The CEA survey also showed that almost half of the people surveyed plan on buying a tablet in the next two years. Wow, I’m shocked. OK, no I’m not.

The emergence of useful under $200 Tablets is, in my opinion, the biggest factor in this growth. At this price point Tablets are impulse buy items. My bet is that most of the current Tablet owners will actually buy at least one more in the next two years. You know iFruit fanz will spend lots of money replacing their perfectly good iPads with newer models. Non-iFruit users will also buy newer models because the price will be right.
