Kodak bankruptcy

The next step in the Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization that Kodak is going through has been announced. On February 9th Kodak announced they were getting out of the camera business. They actually are phasing out all of their dedicated capture devices business – comprising digital cameras, pocket video cameras and digital picture frames in the first half of 2012.

Kodak plans to expand its current brand licensing program, and seek licensees in these categories like so many other big names in the mid-20th Century did. You can buy Bell & Howell, Polaroid and Vivitar brand products today because all of those companies all sold name rights to other companies. That’s what Kodak is banking on being able to accomplish.
