I recently heard some of the remarks made by Steve Ballmer at the Web 2.0 conference recently and it sounds like back in the good old days when MSFT mattered. He went on and on about how MSFT was a major power in the Cloud (they are? That was really news to me!), how MSFT smartphones are so much better than Android's (because Andoid phones are way too complicated for non-computer scientists) and how Win8 will all things to all men. Yeah, sure.
This really is the classic MSFT tactic of spreading FUD (fear, uncertainty and doubt) in order to try to keep people from buying competitor's products and wait for the next version of something MSFT will sell. I'm sorry Steve but that is an old song and we're not listening to your version of it any longer.
